A local engineer, attempting to illustrate the massive water flow-rate presently moving in the Iowa River, explained that if Kinnick Stadium (pictured below) were totally enclosed and filled with the water presently moving in the river, its entire volume would be filled in only 15 seconds. Now that's a lot of water!

Wow.. what a lot of water. Unfortunately according to the latest estimates from the Quad Cities, I think that chart might be a little low. They said that though (without any more rain) the Iowa river back at the dam will measure ~33 feet at crest, they expect areas downstream (including Iowa City) to be possibly an additional 5 feet. Wow.
Cedar Rapids is just as surreal.
