Why just for young people? "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants." Matt. 11:25 All followers are called to be like children, so why should this call just be for young people? How many "adults" have a holy ambition?
Toward the end it becomes clear that he uses literal childhood as an illustration for christians who have yet to "grow up"; there are still physically grown men and women who like to "play with dolls and trucks." There is a time for that, but for many that time has come and gone. No matter how old you are, you can't linger in christian immaturity.
