Taming the Tongue

This is a powerful video from the recent Desiring God Conference. A pretty convicting illustration of James 3.

James 3:7-12

For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water.

wow. Thanks for posting this. I've been there more often than I'd care to admit and it makes my stomach turn. In fact, we were just talking about this exact thing during a conversation at women's retreat.

It is especially effective how they left out the verbal audio during the video.

Thanks, I really needed that today!

Keri and Jen. Glad the video was meaningful to you. It is extremely convicting to me as well. Such an important reminder about the power of words. As the Psalmist says, "may the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer."
